Camping on the Arkansas River

Last weekend we joined up with Erica (after she was camping with Carter), filled the car with gear & dogs, and headed south/southwest for a couple of nights of camping. We stayed in Arkansas Headwaters State Park, or at least pretty close to it. We had a nice campsite, it was kind of desert like, very different than most camping in Colorado. Our campsite was nestled in a valley between two mountain ranges, and sat on the Arkansas river, which means we got to see lots of rafters...no not the dinosaur. Every night we made dinner on the camp fire, and were able to get a couple of day trips in as well. We went to the Royal Gorge (touristy & expensive, but very cool), ate lunch in Canon (pronounced canyon) City, and went on some small hikes. Very fun couple of night... check out the pics below. Our Campsite

DINNER!

First morning waking up, the clouds were so low

Mary on bridge, if you couldn't tell, she really didn't like it

Mary in a big chair, or is she just really small?

Train that follows the river, with the tram above, it's very high up there!

I think Erica is hungry

Mmmmm...corn on the cob

Sammy & Sophie liked camping!
