Grey's newest tricks
Hello everyone! We thought we would make a post to help all of our far-away family and friends imagine all the Grey has grown into in the past few months. Enjoy!
First thing you will note when you hang out with Grey is that he is always on the move. He is a super fast crawler, and pulls himself to standing using almost no supports/ledges. He has not taken any steps yet, but he is very close to standing on his own. He also LOVES climbing on things, especially the chair he got from grandma and grandpa Christensen for Christmas. He is also always babbling and talking, "dadada, mamamama, babababa." He will talk to us and to the dogs, but not as much to his toys.
The following picture shows his favorite activity, climbing into his chair and smiling until we give him attention so he knows that we saw him get into the chair on his own.
The next thing to mention is how Grey is getting into everything. If the ottoman is not blocking the entrance into the sun room, Grey is automatically in the kitchen at one of his favorite spots, either the dishwasher or the area where we keep his empty baby food jars.
The following picture shows what his goal is with the dishwasher (he does this on his own), which was taken about 30 seconds before he fell off and bonked his head.
This picture shows what he does when he ventures over to our room. He also did this on his own, including closing the door! Sam is very happy Grey is so mobile.
Just as it always does, Grey's sleeping pattern is changing. Since he is transitioning to the big-kid room at daycare, he has been a little off of his nap schedule (there are just too many fun toys and kids to look at!). Sometimes, we can tell he is so tired, but he won't be in the mood to be rocked. So, we find him like this...
The final thing to mention is that it is so wonderful to see Grey turn into a little boy when playing with toys. Some of my favorite things he does are... Take toys, one by one, out of the toy basket, interacting with each. He will pull out a small stuffed animal, try to get the eyes and nose with one finger, then all of a sudden yell at it and bite the face. I also love when he finds a binky in the toy basket; he looks at the binky for a second, then puts it in his mouth and keeps playing (which is funny because he isn't super attached to his binky). Finally, he loves to make noise with two toys. He will bang two toys together, or hit one toy on the coffee table, over and over until we acknowledge that it is him making the noise.
The following picture shows his newest toy love, trains. I never thought an 11 month old could be "into" a certain type of toy or brand, but his face really does light up when we make a complete railway and move the train around. These trains are from grandpa Christensen!
Fun photo app for all you iPaders
While searching for apps the other night I came across a fun photo editing app called Snapseed... It actually is the iPad app of the year apparently. I choose one of my favorite photos of Grey and I and started playing around with it. It has really cool options and interesting ways to edit. I recommend it fo sho.
