Weather is finally getting nice in northern Michigan! We have been starting our Spring activities! They are including a lot of bon fires, walks/bike rides to the water, beer, and exploring. It feels weird not to have a yard, flowers, or garden to tend to at this time of year. We are getting so close to our closing date on our house, and we are very tempted to begin outdoor work at the new place, but can't until we sign the papers...darn! So in the mean time we are enjoying other things, below are a few pics of what's been happening...
Bonfires have been plentiful
BBQ out at Jen's parents house. Jeje and George were there from CO!
Mary was a chaperone for a group of junior high kids out to Rockport...which by the way is getting to be an even more interesting place! Mary might have to do a post just on that.
We had a local artist teaching a stained glass workshop at the Loft. Mary got to go for free...her husband has connections. Planning stages of the glass.
The wine stage
(quickly learning that very little happens at Art in the Loft that doesn't involve wine)
Fletcher Street Brewery is by far our most visited location in Alpena. Its so nice because Grey can have free range and run around and be crazy, and his parents can do the same thing, if they stay long enough.
G has hair
Lake Huron Beach
Bike rides happen a lot, especially down to the harbor or the Sanctuary.
By the way if you don't know about the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary, you need to! It really is amazing that Alpena has this! http://thunderbay.noaa.gov
Last week the tall ship Niagara was docked at the Sanctuary. Very cool ship!
Here's a youtube video of the whole ship, my pics aren't that good at showing the whole thing. Its the 1st ship in the video.
Hiking on Sportsman Island on Thunder Bay river
