Denali National Park: day 1

After our nearly sleepless night in the Anchorage airport, we headed to a 24-hour dive-y breakfast joint for a big breakfast before our train ride.

We took a cab and arrived at the train station kind of early, but had fun in their gift shop before they came on the intercom to start their announcements. It felt like they were making a ton of announcements because it turns out that there were two separate companies' cars connected in the same train line. So, they loaded all of the people for the other company, and we started to get a little worried that our car was not as good as the others, or that we were going to get the bad seats or something. But... It was exactly the opposite!!! We had the railway cars that have the "observation" seats on the top of the cars, and it turned out that those were our assigned seats!! We spent the entire seven hours surrounded by a glass domed ceiling. It was amazing. The train traveled on the Alaska railway, going through parts of the Alaskan countryside that can only be seen by train. It was amazing.

After we arrived at the lodge, it turns out that they mis-marked our luggage, and they dropped it off at the first stop on the railway. :( So, we will have our luggage tomorrow, but tonight we are out of luck. Oh, well, we are so dead tired that we will probably just crash early tonight anyways.

Here are some pictures of what I described above, enjoy! And check back tomorrow night because we have a busy busy day planned for tomorrow!

Beautiful pictures. But when I showed them to Greyson, he mournfully said "Momma". Even when the picture was of Justin.
