Red velvet pancakes! I got up early to surprise J with this dessert-for-breakfast Pinterest find. Yummy!

First round of singing for the day.

G thought they were yummy, too.

We all got together to make a yummy meal at home for Justin. Here's the crew (minus kids).

Birthday boy with a full plate. Should the meat be taking up half of the plate? Here's what was on the menu: Michigan salad with homemade maple walnut dressing, wheat beer bread, asparagus with pine nuts, cranberries, and feta, roasted root veggies (including Justin's favorite: beets), cheesy potatoes (from Aaron and Annie), and corned beef (from Denise).

Opening presents: thanks for the tshirt, Joe Joe! Here is Joe's drawing of a Dino. (Sorry, no pics of the shirt, but its a t-Rex holding a beer in each hand)

Thanks for the watercolor supplies, Maria!

My gift to Justin: beer! Lots of unique MI beers shown here, plus a subscription to a beer of the month club. Hmm, are we seeing a theme?

Cake time: I made Becky's chocolate cake with ganache and chocolate shavings on top. Yummy.

Round two of singing(don't get that close to the candle!)

Then, a night out! First stop was the brewery, then the Court Yard, where we ran into the entire town of Alpena, including the Kraffts! This pic shows Aaron and Justin celebrating a Spartan win with Irish car bombs. Thanks again to mom Cooper for babysitting G man for us!
Happy 30th, Justin!!
